I just posted the first chapter of Reaching for Wings. There are 42 chapters. RTF files, mobis, epubs, and PDFs are available from the Spearfish Lake Tales Store Reaching for Wings page. Sales on Lulu for hardcopies, epubs and PDFs have also been enabled; the Lulu order page can be reached through the above page. Preorders have been shipped. Very often when I put up a new story there are html bugs that don't show up when I tested it locally, and I have already found some. I usually stay around until around midnight EST to deal with any of those issues that you bring to my attention, or to ship out orders that have come in. Feel free to let me know. Have fun reading Reaching for Wings!-- Wes

Looks good so far - I can even see in my mind's eye that airfield that she wants to avoid at all costs... and exactly why. I find the thought of possibly having her make a forced landing there, and being welcomed to West Turtle Lake Club by an appropriately-clad Becca and Mylene, a deliciously amusing incident to contemplate.

Good to welcome back some old friends! I struggled with J/J and couldn't sustain the suspension of disbelief. Norm

I've just finished Reaching for Wings! For you poor serial addicts, no spoilers but it's been awhile since I finished a book, any book, with tears in my eyes! [Happy Tears], not since Blanche Tickle Girl and they were not as happy. A great book, possibly Wes's best, well worth the $27.07 AUD that it cost me.

Wes, the link in your announcement post leads straight back here, instead of to the ordering page.
Two chapters read with the added encouragement of comments here I'm off to buy this one.

This seems to be more my style of story. Just could not get into Joe/Joan. After the first two chapters looking forwards to this.

That's the down side of trying different things -- some people may not like them but often other people do.

I would still encourage you to try different things from time to time.

Joe/Joan was not my favorite, but I enjoyed it a lot. Keep pushing the envelope and I will buy any book you write!

Maybe just the pedant in me, but, isn't there a couple of things missing. Where's the news coverage, considering her Uncle and Aunts best friends and neighbours. Letterman, if Tiffany got one why not Bree.
Other than that one of outstanding ones to add to the pile of excellent books from Wes's pen.

Andy Haworth, I think I understand what you're talking about. I've noticed that Wes tends to focus on the current story. He doesn't mention the name McMahon as the friends and neighbors of Mark and Jackie. I guess he treats each story as a separate entity and each reader as a new reader giving information needed to advance the story line. I wonder if that is the newspaperman in him.
You right about the Letter. They usually come on a jacket or sweater in the school's colors. But remember Tiffany drove her sled dogs to school when there was snow on the ground the last five or six years she was in school before she won the Iditarod. If Bree had landed her sailplane on the football field during halftime of a game, maybe she would have gotten one, too. I don't that would have gotten her into trouble since her Aunt Jackie's two younger half-brothers were on the local board.

Bree not only qualified to win a letter, she would have won a total of six, track and cross country. I just never thought to mention it.
