Wes, it looks like you're catching it from every direction. A man ain't got a chance. The Wiki indicates that the next book is a Bradford story so while it is running, you can always go back and fix any faux pas in Spearfish Lake. It's not as bad as it seems at first glance. Going back to the beginning, Rocinante in April 1971. It says Jackie was in 7th or 8th grade when Mark graduated, so Mark is 5 years older. Therefore it would be correct to say Mark Gravengood is 60(ish) at the Christmas Party.

Andy, It's hard to say how old the characters really are. In Starting Late, which takes place in May,2007, Mark says Jackie is 55 in chapter one. In chapter three he says he is five years older than Mike and three years older than Jackie and Kirsten which would make him 58 years old. Later in the book Mark says that he'll be 60 in a year and a half. That would argue for a birth month of November, 1948. Jackie is already 19 when Rocinante begins in March or April,1971 so she was born in early 1952. If Mark is five years older than her as you surmise, then he should have been born in November, 1947 which is an auspicious time or maybe even earlier in 1947.

Bree not only qualified to win a letter, she would have won a total of six, track and cross country. I just never thought to mention it.

Not everything is relevant to be explicitly stated in the story, like the idea that while Becca was on 2 or 3 teams and had 8 or 12 letters, but her 'un-athletic' little sister surpassed her on individual (and maybe also on team) state championships. Or on the topic of the unnamed neighbors and relatives, that in Stray Kitten and Starting Late the family gatherings are mentioned with emphasis on Jackie's pies but it is superfluous to bring it up again in the 3 years of this story.

Shouldn't Chapter 23 be up by now, or have I got my calendar screwed up again?

I noticed that football bullies show up again. You must have been abused by them at some point! I never had much to do with them and I was beneath notice anyway. It seems some of them did not age well in any case. Still, good story so far. JP

I was wondering how the law would bust the party. It adds a very good twist to the story. I am trying to keep the spoiler out of this. Also, I thing the story is much better than just good. John

I think the idea that was used came from something that happened around a year earlier near Spearfish Lake.

I thought that chapter 33 was a nice touch. It builds on a foundation first explored in Rocinante. Mark and Jackie apparently took the advice that Cody Archer gave him of allowing Bree to be her own person.

Rare view of a lennie (lenticular cloud) in the UK, over a famous landmark, the Ribblehead viaduct, for all the train fans. Steam engines such as the Flying Scotsman are frequently photographed on the viaduct. www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-york-north-yorkshire-39845625The hill over which the cloud formed is Whernside 746 m (2415 ft), which with two other hills Ingleborough and Pen-y-ghent are used for Yorkshire version of the 'Three Peaks' race.

Two questions for Wes.
You're not planning to change your web site from Spearfish Lake Tales to Bradford Tales, are you?
Is the picture on the cover page a Schweizer 1-26 sailplane?
Thanks.
