I've started this forum post at least 50 times now, sometimes even gotten a ways into it, but always just trashed it.
It should be obvious that the editing on Under Prairie Skies is not going well. I thought I had something to work with, but every time I start on it (again) it seems like less and less. There is something to work with but I'm just not having much luck pulling it together into something I really like. I'm getting a bit apathetic on the project but I do want to at least "tell the story." It's looking to me as if it certainly won't be worth paying for, though that could change.
I don't know when I'll have the story completed for those of you still here with us. What I'm aiming for now is just getting something readable all the way through the book. It won't be like Wes's writing. It's NOT Wes's writing. It will be true to the series and his characters, and we hope within his vision of what he would have wanted the end of the story to be. It won't be up to his story standard, but will come to a conclusion and at least close out the series.
Again, I don't know when this will be, likely not until this summer, 2023. I can't promise anything other than trying to keep you better informed as to what's happening with it, though I haven't kept previous ones in that regard very well. I'll try.
Now I need to go in and try to figure out how to modify the site's home page. I haven't done that for a couple of years now and gotta figure it out.
Thanks for understanding,
Not Wes

Okay, I got into the site and even updated the banner on the main home page some. Works for me. Clear your caches if you have to, but just reload/refresh or shift reload/refresh should actually do it for you.

Thanks for the update, even if it is not the news we were hoping for.

I will email Not Wes and ask him to reply to your question. He has enlisted a writer to try and finish the book. An excerpt he sent me in June looked decent.

As Boyd Percy hinted above, another fan of Wes's books has offered to help with expanding Bill Stacy's writing some to help the process along.
The helpful writer is actually working on a book of their own, and that needs to be further along than it is, so I'm not getting input right now, but I've been promised some copy coming at me starting in September. Real life can intrude, so there could be slow spots, but we'll try and get it done and ready to post. I don't want to do the dreaded post-as-we-finish chunks of chapters, much prefer Wes's full-book style to keep from having to resolve any conflicts that might crop up. We'll see how it unfolds in the early stages.
Believe it or not, this will actually speed up the work as I've not been doing well at all working essentially alone at this. It does mean that you won't see anything before the beginning of the new year. I hate to stall things that way again(!), but as said, with the help offered, of which I've already seen a couple short samples, this will mean getting a better story to you and sooner than I could alone.
I'm not naming any names right now. I'll need to get permission to do that.
Again, sorry for the delay.
Not Wes
