George Webb challenges Mike McMahon to discover why Garth Matson and Donna Clark still hate each other after 30+ years. It's the major motivation but not the only one for the book.

Some of the early SLTs.. I have to admit weren't really my favorites; I bounced off of Snowplow Extra a couple of times before I made it through. But WTLC is making me want to go back and reread Absent Friend.

Leo,
I'm sort of the same way about several of the early SLT books. I really liked Rocinante, but Snowplow didn't work for me. It took me four tries to get through that one. I could never figure out which train I was on. I actually didn't finally finish it until after I had started editing for Wes and we started at the beginning of his bibliography to work them all over again. It's still not one that I'll reread for pleasure. Train buffs seem to love it, but maybe they know how to sort out which one is which. I don't and can't without a better hint when the POV/scene switch takes place. Most of the others I have reread at least once, but some of them way more than others.
Thanks for commenting.
