Please see the March 19th edition of "Pickles" on arcamax.com/comics or gocomics.com. Comics/azcentral.com posts first at 11:00 pm Central Time.
Both Wes and I enjoyed perusing online comic strips. If I saw one that he might enjoy, I'd alert him by email. This would be one.
Sure going to miss him.

Gocomics.com is still publishing an arc of comic strips through this Friday about kilts. I believe Wes once mentioned that he sometimes dressed up for Halloween in a kilt.

Here, at age 70, I feel like an Ostrich with his head in the sand. I had no idea these comic strip sites existed until you posted them here. My wife and I are enjoying these. We both have fond memories from our early childhood of our dads reading their favorite comic strips to us. Sadly, I haven't been able to find any that are doing Li'l Abner strips which were was my dad's favorite.
I feel you loss for you friend Wes. The past few years I have lost 2 very special friends I've had since age 5 in kindergarten. I miss them dearly.
I forwarded the link to a Scottish friend of mine who lives in the UK, and he is enjoying the Pickles kilt strips.
Thanks again for the links Gary I live in Southwest Lower Michigan

Glad you and your wife are enjoying the older comic strips. If you're a night owl like me, comics/azcentral.com posts the next days comics at midnight, then arcamax.com/comics about a half hour later and lastly, gocomics.com sometime after 1:00 am ET. You might want to sign up with gocomics, it's free and easy and then go to the a-z listing and bookmark (subscribe) your favorite comics so that every time you sign in, you will a complete listing of your favorites with an indication of new postings. I currently follow about 60 comics on gocomics and 20 on the other two sites. If you get up with the roosters, you can look at them while you drink a morning cup of coffee. Better than reading or hearing the daily news.
I live in Baton Rouge.

They are good sources. Another source is comicskingdom.com which is part of King Features Syndicate. They still run the Katzenjammer Kids which is supposedly the oldest continuous running comic strip even predating Gasoline Alley.

GaryDan provides: > Sadly, I haven't been able to find any that are doing Li'l Abner strips which were was my dad's favorite. Li'l Abner....now there is a blast from the past. Penned by Al Capp I became aware of the strip in the Chicago Daily News which was delivered to my parent's house Monday-Saturday. Li'l Abner along with Daisy Mae, Mammy & Pappy Yokum in Dogpatch were a daily chuckle or three. Li'l Abner introduced me to social & political commentary via the comics during the mid-60's as numerous strips about the radicals at Berkley. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Li%27l_Abner

GaryDan, you can still view all the old Lil' Abner comic strips on gocomics.com. Just choose Comics A-Z and scroll down to Lil'Abner and click on it. It will take you to the most current posting but if you scroll to the bottom of the page you'll see a blue button that says link to the very beginning of Lil' Abner, If you click on it, you will go back to August 19, 1934, the very first Lil' Abner comic scrip.

@boyd Wow. Thanks to you I found it on on gocomnics.com. Something to enjoy with my morning coffee, or something to do during night time insomnia Beats watching television, especially the news these days. I get enough bad news from my doctor, I don't need it blasted at me continuously from the boob tube. @jon Daisy Mae, Mammy & Pappy Yokum in Dogpatch I had forgotten about, but were also favorites my folks enjoyed and were posted in our local papers The Grand Rapids Press, Muskegon Chronicle, and Grand Haven Tribune. Mammy & Pappy Yokum were kinda like the old movies Pa & Ma Kettle series that my parents loved. It's amazing that some days I can't remember what I did yesterday, but the mention of something like the comic strips will trigger vivid, detailed memories when I was a little kid. Things I hadn't though about for 60 years. .... I'm astounded these sites have so many strips, virtually free. No copyright requirements??
