Reunion, almost done posting, is the last book of Wes's to post. We think there is another book coming, but from a different writer, NOT written by Wes.
Bill Stacy, a retired Methodist minister who checked all the religious content for Wes in his books, especially the Reverend Nanci series, took it upon himself (after a gentle hint) to try and "finish" that series and close out some of the loose plot lines it contained. He finished it not long ago, though we're still making modifications, and we need to do some smoothing and editing passes yet. That means it will not start posting for at least a couple months, likely longer than that. There will be no story chapters posted after the last of Reunion goes up in just a few days (Sunday?). All this is almost entirely the fault of Not Wes. I'm just not keeping things on the ball and moving along. Keep checking back as I'll have a note here in the forum as to progress and when it might start. It will be a few months, how many is unknown at this time. This breach in the "no derivative works" clause of the Creative Commons License is authorized by Kathy, who manages Wes's estate. She's a huge fan of the Reverend Nanci series herself.
The book's title is "Under Prairie Skies", which you may remember being somewhat described in an Author's Note at the end of Circuit Rider, posted here a couple years ago (2019). You can go read the last chapter of that book and get some of the skinny on Wes's thinking for the story.
I'll get a short note on the home page of the Web site to warn people as to what's happening and to check here for more info and updates.
Those of you who remember and come back for it will be welcome. Those of you who forget or aren't interested in writing other than Wes's, thanks for reading, and good luck finding new authors. It's been an interesting 12 books for us.
Thanks for reading,
Not Wes

Wes never mentioned any future books in that series in the works. There could be something in his hard drive files, but I don't have access to them. If there is anything, it would surprise me. In that regard there are lots of books coming, but everything I know of and have access to, you and everyone else has seen. I'm out of books and stories to post. I agree about the sad smiley. Also, thanks for the thanks. Not Wes

It has been an amazing journey through all these years. Thank you Not Wes and the rest of the team including the family, for keeping things going so well and, I think, honoring Wes' memory in the best way possible. --- howard

Wes's books have been a source of much pleasure for me over the years, both those from the master himself and those brought to a conclusion later. My thanks to all, family and others, involved.

It's a bit sad that there will be no more from Wes's own pen. Hopefully the completion of the Reverend Nanci series will not be too far in the future.
A big thanks to Not Wes and all the other editors, helpers and minions of whatever type.

I am saddened that I will no longer be able to read a couple of new chapters a week on the site. It is something I've been doing ever since I discovered the site quite a few years ago.
Many grateful thank you's to Wes' friends and family who finished posting what he had left.
I will keep checking in once in a while to see if there are any additions.
Again, thanks to, originally Wes for his works, and to his family and friends who put in the time and effort to complete what they could.

Thank you to Not Wes and everyone else. I first discovered Wes when Snowplow Extra was posted on StoriesOnline, apparently that was 2007, and I've been following on from there ever since - almost 15 years worth of literature. I'll be back for Prarie Skies but before then I'm going to read Rocinate, which I never did earlier on for reasons I don't remember, and have been intentionally putting off until this moment since learning of Wes' death. The only question is whether I'll be able to pace myself to just 2 chapters a week!

and so it ends.....
Thank you Wes for a series of fiction whose characters became real.
Thank you to Not Wes and the merry band of editors and advisors for getting the unpublished books to fruition.
I too found "Snowplow Extra" one night when going thru the StoriesOnLine offerings looking for some "recreational" reading. After reading "Snowplow Extra" on SOL I found Spearfish Lake Tales and the stories here. I beleive SLT was in the midst of posting the Dawnwalker series and felt some trepidation of not being able to follow the current story because my lack of context of earlier books.
To this day, I think the railroad that became the Camden & Spearfish Lake RR was cobbled together from Chicago & North Western branches not Soo Line. The area of Spearfish Lake in the western UP is mainly Soo Line with C&NW and Milwaukee Road. Wes's description of the origins of the C&SL have much derision of the operations and RR management which to my foam like sensibilities make me say that RR was the C&NW. To be honest, I have held the Soo Line in higher regard than the C&NW and to an extent the Milwaukee Road. My loyalty to the Soo is dedicated on living a couple of blocks from the Soo mainline in Mundelein, IL. But alas, we will never know which RR was the basis of the C&SL.
As a friend would say......Bravo Zulu!

Not-Wes, I've just noticed that on the index page Reunion is still in the "Currently Being Posted" section. It needs moving down into "Completed Books".

Not-Wes, I've just noticed that on the index page Reunion is still in the "Currently Being Posted" section. It needs moving down into "Completed Books". Thanks, Colin, I know. I'm just being lazy in this heat we're having in the Pacific Northwest. I've got a new index/home/main page started that still needs some modifying before it uploads to the server. When I did the big red stripe notice, I kept it easy for me. I'll get it all adjusted within the next few days (I hope) and upload the page. The really hot stuff in at least the 10-day forecast is gone, but it's still warmer than I (we?) like here, which increases the lazy factor some. I was sort of waiting for the next ice age to start, but it's being held off, and my excuse dwindles. . . . Thanks again, Not Wes

I just want to echo the thanks for Wes and all the team. I don't know if Wes realised quite what an impact he made on readers from (far) outside the US. Wes created places like Spearfish Lake and Bradford, and then blended them into the landscape by inventing a few nearby towns and gradually shifted over to real towns and cities. When viewed from the right-hand side of the pond, those towns that he invented are far more real (and interesting) than somewhere called "Chicago" or "Detroit".

The towns he invented seem pretty real to someone who lives the other side of the Pacific pond, in Australia, as well.
