I've been slowly accumulating the varied SLT books in e-format.
The books have been in PDF format to date. I have not considered other formats as PDF is pretty much a standard for the type of documents I've encountered. The only real complaint with PDF is the lack of a table of contents where a specific chapter may be selected, by clicking on the chapter to get a quick redirect.
What other formats should I consider?

Rich Text Format (RTF). I still plan to buy 16 of the early books that I am missing. I wish now I had bought them directly from Wes. I guess you can't put off things until the future.

I have bought epub format of some of Wes's books. They have contents with links for each chapter.
I have seen pdf files from other sources with ToC links for each chapter. I don't know how they are produced.

@anthonyh You can create links in existing PDF documents, but you will need Adobe Acrobat to edit the existing PDF (not the reader). The problem is Adobe Acrobat is expensive. There may be other third party editors that work, but I'm not familiar with them. Unless I'm not understanding it correctly, the link below explains the how. helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/using/links-attachments-pdfs.htmlGary

You can find cheaper options than Adobe Acrobat for editing PDF files. One such is Foxit PhantomPDF, they also have a reader available for free.

The Table of Contents will work in the epub and Kindle versions - I make sure when the conversions are done
