Missing word "caused" after word strike. I need to learn to proofread better.

Didn't know a thing about it until this morning. Sorry I missed it but it's cold out there -- even colder than Louisiana.

Wes, I'll take your word for that. Last Winter (12-21-2015 through 3-21-2016) we had 7 days below freezing. So far, we've had 15 days below freezing plus a couple more days forecasted before it warms up. We even had snow and ice on the streets but no snow removal equipment. We've had hundreds of auto accidents of people trying to drive on icy roads.Where's global warming when you need it. It should warm up to the 40s on Thursday afternoon and around 70 on Sunday.
Andy, they can disagree all they want to, but I think they're crazy to live there.

I wonder what the dogsled racers in Spearfish Lake would think of this dog. The winter of 2016-2017 had only 11 freezes here and the previous one had 17. This winter there has been 18 freezes so far.

Be careful for what you wish..... On a certain Tuesday in January 1967 us kids caught hell for not wearing jackets because the temperature was in the 60 degree Fahrenheit range. On Wednesday afternoon, I delivered papers in a spring jacket because the temperature had dropped. On Thursday morning it started snowing about an inch of snow an hour (or more) for a total of 27 inches in 24 hours becoming the "Big Snow of 1967" in the Chicago area. We lived in the path of the heaviest dump about 4 miles west of Midway Airport.

From the middle of a summer heatwave in Sydney, Australia, I am shivering just thinking about snow! I've only ever SEEN snow about half a dozen times in my whole 66 years, and all but one of those times was a light dusting on some mountains west of Sydney. I have a couple of winter jackets in my cupboard that haven't even been worn in a year or two. I am VERY much a summer person - if it gets below 15 degrees C (that's about 60 F) I start dreaming about moving north . . . if only those six numbers would come up in powerball I might be able to do it! Incidentally, today it's a bit cooler than the last couple of days - it's only about 35C today (95F). And my swimming pool is a balmy 27 (80F) - went for a quick dip this morning before coming to work! I love it!

Good story.
I, too, live in an area which rarely gets snow or ice and isn't prepared when it gets bombed with frozen precipitation. We had 18 wheelers and other vehicles parked on the side of closed interstates and other major thoroughfares waiting for the frozen precip to thaw. It took over 2 days.
