Andy, is it cold enough anywhere in Australia (I think that's where you are) to do any dogsledding? Well, level enough where it might be cold enough to do any dogsledding? Just wonderin'.
Thanks,
Not Wes

Thanks, Not Wes I'm not from down under. I am English and live in a small village on the southern edge of the Forest of Bowland and in the Ribble Valley but haven't seen any dogsleds here and is probably not suitable, not because of the countryside but it doesn't get very cold and most snow here is soft and wet. The location is also on the North Western edge of what was the cotton industry, which needs a damp atmosphere, where a lot of the Industrial Revolution took place.
Did see a couple of sleds when I worked in NE Scotland in the 1970's, but I was traveling in the opposite direction.

Boyd Percy was correct then. I had an exchange with him after my post, also. He though you were from east of us across the pond. I misremembered and thought you were another ex-colonist from below the waist of the world. Oh, well, memory is failing me quicker than I thought! Thanks for setting me straight. There are a lot of readers in Great Britain who follow Wes's books. Thanks for the video link. I gather from it that dogs are dedicated though not smart enough to go back for the musher it looks like. Or maybe it's "Freedom from the boss!"

Yes, we do have dogsledding in Australia. www.assa.dog/ Conditions are relatively benign, so dogs other than traditional breeds get a run too!

Wow! Thanks, Norm. A much more active sport there than I'd have thought for a not quite tropical country. I'll have to look at the site some more. I'm not actually super interested in it myself (I hate cold weather) but more keeping up on sports that Wes introduced to his readers.
