Amanda and all the Boyd family, I cannot say how much I am shocked and saddened by the news of Wes's departure. I'm sorry I never met him but I did have the honor of talking to him many times via email when I drew the maps. He will be missed.

Deeply saddened to hear of Wes' passing. I have been reading his stories for many years, most of them several times, and have always been impressed and fascinated by his skills, imagination, thorough research, gentle humor, and his observations of life. My thoughts and prayers to Amanda and all the family.

Having had a serious case of the flu these past weeks I just got back to reading the forum. This was not what I had expected to read, Amanda, I am so sorry for your loss.
Wes was one that made us smile each time we picked up a book, often re-reading a book for the umpteenth time just so we could enjoy the stories just one more time. And allways there were more new chapters of new books, even now when we realise that one day soon there will be no more new chapters.
Wes, you will allways be in our hart and thank you for what you have done in all those years, now I hope you can rest and look down on what you have created in your life and see the joy. RIP Wes.

My condolences. Wes was truly an inspiration to all of us aspiring writers. His humanity and love of adventure was clearly evident in his writings. I will miss him as will countless others.

Such sad news. Wes brought such delight with his characters, and especially with his strong female leads. He was one of my "must read" authors for many years and will be sorely missed.

Hi, I'd just like to add my sympathy to all who will miss Wes.
The only way I knew him was through a couple of emails about orders, but I think those who knew him will recognize what I said in the email for my first order: "I don't know if I should thank you or what - I have missed a couple of days of work when I got involved in your stories so far that when I looked up at the time it was "Oh, shit, I'm supposed to be at work in an hour" ".
Great storyteller, Rest In Peace, Wes.

I checked in to read the chapters of Rag Doll that I missed while I've been out of town and away from the computer for a couple of weeks. And read your message.
I knew Wes was not in the best of health, but darn it....
Amanda, please share with Kathy that Wes has/had a bunch of friends that really, really regret that they never got to meet him...
I know that he was Methodist, but I will stop in our local church office and schedule a Mass to be said for him.

I am sorry to hear that one of my absolute favorite authors is no longer with us. I normally don't pay attention to blogs or forums. That being said, if a chapter from another author had not mentioned Wes' passing I would have just continued in a fools paradise, not knowing this tragic news. My deepest condolences to the family. There isn't a lot I can add. I REALLY like his stories and will be saddened when they are all completed. RIP Wes you had a great run that was too short.

For years now I've had breakfast with Wes and the latest chapter of whatever wonderful story was underway in the special universe he created. I will miss the man and his talent. My condolences to his family, I am so sorry for your loss. I appreciate that access to his works will be maintained for a while and I plan on purchasing a set.
Kindest Regards, John P. GROSS.

Amanda,
My heart aches for your loss. I never had the pleasure of meeting Wes in person, but over time felt that I had gained a good friend from our correspondence online. I will miss knowing he is "about in the world". I am looking forward to the continued postings of his books, and am gladdened that you and Dan will be continuing in Wes' absence.
I had had told him in an email quite a long time ago that I was grateful for his stories as they are "comfort word" and provide wonderful bits of escapism. I want you to know, in hopes of some comfort, how much your dad's gift of writing meant to all of us here. I intend on buying a set of hard bound books to go along with the digital files. I have read each of his stories multiple times, and never fail to find something new in each reading. Wes had a great gift, and the world is a poorer place for his loss. That he existed, though, and left such a beautiful legacy, is something I'm immensely grateful for.
A toast to an Absent Friend.... Until Valhalla, my friend.

Dear Amanda and Daniel,
Yesterday, having thought it's about time for something about his next book, I checked in and... Oh, No!...
It was February 23rd., that Wes told me in his message "I am going in for surgery tomorrow and am not looking forward to it."
Over years, Wes and I exchanged so many mails, mostly about his books, a lot in medicine and sailing, and when he mentioned his "surgery," something stopped me to ask any further.
Being the same age as Wes, I've been dreaming to spend my retirement time translating his books to Japanese, as a hobby, and although Wes encouraged me, I just can't abandon all my stuff and patient yet.
Please accept my sincere, but late, condolences to you and his wife.
RIP Wes, you gave me so much joy, I really miss you.
