Amanda:
I am totally at a loss. Our thoughts, prayers and support are with you now and will stay with you. Wes was set the bar high for all of us common folk and always was an inspiration.

Wes will be missed. He was one of the great writers of the last few decades. That includes both online and dead tree authors.
I want express my condolences to his wife and family. Wes will be missed by all of us including those of us who only knew him through his stories and editorials.

Amanda, Daniel and Mrs. Wes-Condolences to all----he will be sorely missed down here in sunny Fla--I reread the Snowplow Extra and dog sled racing stories every August when it is 110 in the shade and it always helps to cool me off---he was that good @ describing conditions-u can feel the snow and smell the wet dogs. We will all sure miss him-even though most of us never met him face to face we all feel like we knew him like a good friend. RIP WES, MAY THE SEAS BE CALM, THE WINDS STRONG AND THE COLD ONES NEVER RUN DRY.

I am so sorry to hear that. Darn, I wasn't ready for this...
My deepest sympathies, Amanda.
Thank you very much, Wes. He brought so many characters to life, and gave me many, many hours of entertainment. Wes's photos and postings made me feel like a friend, enjoying a conversation. And now, the friend is gone.
Rest in peace.

Amanda:
The first of your father's stories that I read was "The Next Generation". That was in late 2007 or early 2008. I was hooked! In March of 2008 I set up a paypal account for the sole purpose of purchasing complete copies of the first 5 books Wes self published (Rocinante, Snowplow Extra, The Next Generation, Busted Axle Road and Runner's Moon). In April/May of 2009 we fans established the wiki which included the bibliography page which Wes maintained.
Wes had a profound impact on me and on many others. I will miss our occasional phone calls and email conversations as well as just knowing he was around. Many a time I have thought "I wonder what Wes would think of that?" when I came across things that related to his stories. I doubt that in the years I have left I will ever stop thinking that!
I cannot be there, but on Saturday March 17, 2018 at 2:00 PM I will pause and raise a glass, a prayer and a memory to and for a man that I was proud to call FRIEND!

I am enormously saddened by this news. Wes and I communicated several times over the years; he liked my naturist stories on Stories On Line, and I of course admired his. His run on this earth has left a lasting legacy; stories of hope and inspiration.
I shall miss his tales of Spearfish Lake, of Bradford and of parts distant. Thank you, Wes, for all your efforts. May spearfishlaketales.com last for many decades to come.
I fear I'll have to pick up the dead tree editions before long.

I would like to add my condolences to the Boyd family. I am another avid reader that looked forward each week to an update from Wes. He will be greatly missed by many many readers. I have had a few email conversations with Wes over the years and it feels as if I have lost an old friend. I enjoy so much getting lost in the worlds Wes created. I would like to thank the Amanda and Daniel for helping to complete Wes' legacy. I am deeply sorry for your loss.

I haven’t checked the forum in weeks, and this is certainly not what I wanted to read. I sent a PayPal donation a couple of weeks back and just noticed it hasn’t been accepted. I’ll reroute it to the Hudson Foundation in Wes’ honor.

Have enjoyed Wes' stories over many years - and some direct communication via e-mail on a couple of points. He create a number of universes, realistic characters and good dialogue. Glad to hear that you are continuing his legacy and continuing to post his books. and other writings.

Amanda, Please accept my condolences. We expect the people we admire to be around all the time, and it is difficult for me to think that my dear friend Wes is no more. I used to discuss my likes/dislikes of his stories with him - and looking at his phenomenal output just assumed he was going to be around forever cranking out his stories. Life intervened, and I haven't been corresponding with him a lot recently. Wes has made a positive impact in our lives with his stories (for in my opinion very little personal gain for himself) and his influence in this world will live a lot longer.
Wes, my friend, may you rest in peace.
