Amanda and the rest of the family. I'm sorry for your loss. Wes's writing has provided me years of enjoyment. His handling of the victories and struggles of his characters, both mundane and grand has been a pleasure to read.

I was sad to read the comment by argon on another site that Wes had left us. He was an immensely talented but humble man who brought enormous pleasure to all of us. I have read and re-read his stories for many years and am always finding new insights in what he gave to us. We did occasionally correspond, and I enjoyed his comments on each of those exchanges. I send his wife and all the family my sympathies, in hopes that their grief is mitigated by the knowledge that so many of us out here wish them all the support that we can offer.

I must join the legions who mourn Wes' passing. He was one of my favorite authors and always took the time to respond to my emails. He will be missed.
RIP

I too am shattered to hear this news - I've been an avid reader of Wes for many years, eagerly awaiting the next instalment. I am happy to hear that you will continue his work - no, that's not right, because it was obvious that Wes never considered Spearfish Lake Tales "work". I bonly found out the sad news via Argon's story "The return of Thomas Grey" on SOL where he dedicated today's chapter to the memory of Wes. I heartily concur with all the condolence messages from other readers (no, make that friends) of Wes Boyd. I've only corresponded with him a few times (I'm in Sydney, Australia) but also, remotely, regarded him as one of the great authors of our time. I believe some (most?) of his stories would make fantastic movie screenplays (Steven Spielberg, perhaps?). Anyway, enough raving - my best wishes to the Boyd family in this most difficult of times. I am shocked beyond words; to read on SOL (Argon) about the passing of Wes. I discovered his writing on SOL and then found Spearfish Lake and all of the incredible characters therein.
Words are not any where near enough to express my sense of loss.
I am deeply grateful that his work will go on and hope for the best outcomes for his family and loyal readers.
He will be sorely missed.

It is with great sadness I echo the many stated feelings. I was not aware of Wes's problems but can commiserate. Wes and I had corresponded via email a number of times and he was a classy gentleman who was, if I figured properly, the same age as I. I will definitely miss his wonderful stories and the messages that they send. Thank you Wes, Rest in Peace my friend!

Like many others I saw the news of Wes's death via Argon. Also like many others I have enjoyed his writing for many years. The world is a poorer place for his passing.
I am sorry for your loss, maybe the only consolation is the knowledge that his work remains and many people will continue to read it and think kindly on the writer for bringing joy into the world.
RIP

Here I was reading the latest submission of an Argon story on SOL which was concluded with a dedication to his passed fellow writer Wes Boyd. That is a sad thing indeed. I am still looking forward to the next submission of Rag Doll and now Wes is gone. After all the stories he offered us thank full readers, I have the feeling I have lost a friend. I am grateful that trough the years I have expressed my appreciation by sending him some emails and buy one of his books every now and then. Wes, you will be missed.

Very sad to hear that Wes has passed away. I offer my deep and sincere condolences to you and your family, Amanda.
As others have stated, as an author he had a remarkable ability to make one willingly suspend one's disbelief and also to create characters that became true friends and left you hoping for their success. I have read, and reread, several times in many cases, all of the completed books published on this site and had enjoyed them all. Alas, we must now settle for the 8 remaining tales.
R.I.P Wes

@ Boyd Percy Thank you very much for posting that link to the obit. After reading his obit, I can see he poured his lifetime experiences into his stories. I will re-read them with a whole new appreciation.

My sincerest condolences to you and your family. I only knew your father as a wonderful writer of interesting characters. But he will be missed.
I wish to say more but I am afraid that your father's talent was much more than mine.

Shock does not cover it! I have lost a friend [although we never actually met] I have also lost a complete universe created by Wes, it will come to an end in 8 more books! An unbelievable thing to wake up to on an ordinary Thursday morning. My deepest sympathy to Amanda and the rest of the family.
Allen Hope PS Wes is the second internet friend, who I deeply respect, that we have lost this year, I really, really hope there is not a third!
