I know Wes released his stories under a license that allowed no derivation, so other writers cannot incorporate his characters into their stories.
But in the past writers have continued the work of deceased writers. Spider Robinson finished Variable Star, Anne McCaffery's son has continued her Pern series.
Has Wes's estate considered, or approached, any writers in an effort to continue the stories?

NQS,
I don't see the site mail, but I have heard no mentions from those who do of any requests/offers to continue any stories. The estate (Wes's wife Kathy) can authorize a derivative use or work.
There has been an approach/offer made to someone to continue one series, not going to name it right now as it is up in the air as to whether it might happen. If it doesn't, why bother getting anyone's hopes up? I shouldn't even be writing this reply! If it does happen, it's likely to be no more than a one-book extension. We'll keep people posted, but not until anything is known for sure. It'll likely be months before anything is known. Not everyone writes as fast as Wes did.

Well, I know it's a long shot, but better than no shot. I hope it continues, but understand if not.
Worst case, the copyright expires in 70 years. So all factors included, I just have to live to 125. ;-)
